NEA International Projects

Early in 2006 the Trustees of NEA formally resolved that it would be consonant with its objectives to support a number of educational and social projects outside the United Kingdom.  In practice this was not a new departure for NEA – for over half a century people from all but a handful of countries around the globe have found a welcome at Netherhall House, Grandpont House and the other NEA centres.

Elsewhere this Review records how, for most of the last twenty years groups from NEA centres have undertaken social service projects abroad.  Supporting the volunteers have been many regular contributors and other donors making these projects possible.

NEA’s decision now enables support to be given to projects of organisations which share NEA’s vision of helping people to fulfil their potential for the service of others.

In addition to overseas work camps described elsewhere, in the period up to September 2007 financial support has been given to:

Lantana Heights Project, Trinidad
Grant for development of training centre

Hogar S. Francisco Xavier, Guatemala
Grant assistance for orphanage

Strathmore College, Kenya
Support for bursary within Africa’s first multiracial education project

Kianda College, Kenya
Grant for works in development projects
