Dunreath Boys Club

Dunreath is situated in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.  If you visit the Boys’ Club section of the website you discover that the Club’s aims are:

  • a varied activity-based programme of informal education with opportunities for personal development within a friendly environment; along with
  •
  • a family atmosphere within the Club to help boys aged 10 to 14 acquire an attitude of respect, understanding and service towards the others.
  •

Throughout the year the Club provides a regular core weekend programme:

  • for 10 to 12 year-olds cultural, creative (including graphic arts) and sporting activities;
  •
  • for 13 to 14 year-olds creative, personal development, team sports and social-outreach activities. These offer opportunities for spiritual and doctrinal growth.

Dunreath encourages the involvement of parents in the running of the club through a Parents' Committee and brings together families of club members through assorted activities for all.

There is a clear objective of making these services available to other youth groups and schools in order to complement or support their own programmes.

Activities for young people began before NEA acquired its current premises for Dunreath in Pollokshields.  Parents and other supporters are fundraising for the planned expansion of one wing of the building to provide improved facilities for the Club.

There is a wide range of activities including quizzes, sports, and excursions, with a weekly talk on some aspect of human or Christian development.

The Club is a member of the Scottish Association of Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs.
